Let us worship God
Joseph of Arimathea went to Pilate and asked for Jesus body. Then he took it down, wrapped it in a linen cloth and laid it in a rock hewn tomb where no one had ever been laid. Luke 23:52.

Jesus taken from the cross
Gary Blunt, an artist and writer, looked on this Bible passage and he painted this picture.

In his book called Bert, his dog and God, Gary imagines Bert taking Jesus from the cross and his dog watching and providing a commentary on what is happening. Having watched earlier as Jesus died, he thinks
Later on that evening
Still saddened by our loss. The two of us came ot a hill to remove him from the cross. My master held him in his arms. He held him very tight. Look what they've done to God's own Son Its such a sorry sight. |
A well known hymn to end our time today
1 We sing the praise of him who died,
of him who died upon the cross; the sinner's hope though all deride -- for this we count the world but loss. 2 Inscribed upon the cross we see in shining letters, 'God is love'; he bears our sins upon the tree; he brings us mercy from above. 3 The cross! it takes our guilt away; and holds the fainting spirit up; it cheers with hope the gloomy day, and sweetens every bitter cup. 4 It makes the coward spirit brave, and nerves the feeble arm for fight; it takes its terror from the grave, and gilds the bed of death with light. 5 The balm of life, the cure of woe, the measure and the pledge of love, the sinner's refuge here below, the angels' theme in heaven above. Where are you God? You are in the heart and soul of Jesus and you are here with us as we travel through these anxious times.
Loving God, open our ears and eyes. Speak to our individual needs, our hopes, our cities, we pray
Amen (Donald Hilton)

Bible reading plan
oHere's a simple bible reading plan for the next few weeks taken from Janie Stuart's favourite Bible commentator-Dale Bruner. He calls it making a home with Jesus. (John 15). His suggestion is that we read a a book a month, reading a chapter a day and think about what we have read and what is happening in our lives. Since some books are have fewer chapters than days in the month, then you either get to have a few days holiday or spend time chewing over passages that caught your attention in that particular book.
His scheme for the next few months would be:
March: Luke 1-24
April: John 1-21
May: Acts 1-28
June: Romans: 1-16
We are part way through the gospel of Luke in the church so I would suggest the following:
March 22 to April 12 Luke 10 -24
April 13 to May 3: John 1-21
May: Acts 1-28 which would gets us back onto Dale's plan but let us read and reflect on the Easter story at Easter.
