Dear Friends
Although we now have less restrictions, life in general has still not returned to normal. Most of us will have had a trip to the hairdressers, and are now meeting up with our families, etc. We still don't know when we can resume our church services but we hope it will be soon. However, this nasty virus is still with us and we must remain vigilant at all times,to stay safe. On our journey through life we never know what lies round the corner, but we must find the strength to carry on and continue on the road, even though it is not easy. Ray Thomson, Convenor, 26.07.2020 Our Loving Heavenly Father We thank you for being with us at all times, everywhere and in everything we do. Help us to be aware of your love, and to place our hope and trust in you. We ask you to revive us when we are weary and when we lose heart. Be with us also in our joy, and sorrow. We thank you for all your blessings to us: friends, family and those who help us in our journey through life. This we ask in your name. Amen |

'Whose We Are and Whom We Serve'
'One Journey, Many Roads'
Dear friends
Although I have e-mailed you, written to you and spoken to many of you on the phone I thought I would again say a few words on the Guild page of the Church Website.
Here we are in September and, though some of the Covid-19 restrictions have been eased, we all know we have to proceed with caution.
This has been a dreadful journey for all of us, and I know a lot of you are struggling through these strange and trying times, However we must not forget all the families who have lost loved ones to this terrible disease, and whose lives will never be the same again.
I know, like me, you will be missing the Guild, and the Church family - at least we are back to having our hair done again! Who would have thought we would miss the simple things in our daily routine.
Regrettably we have had to cancel all our Guild meetings and the 'Guilds Together' meeting, which was to have been held in Stonehaven. Also, the Guild Rally, held in Dundee on Saturday 5th September, was a 'virtual' meeting, streamed on the Church of Scotland Website. I hope you were all able to log in to it.
We have no idea, as yet, as to when our Guild meetings will resume, and I suspect 'social distancing' will be part of our lives for some time to come.
I see this Pandemic as if we are at the top of a mountain with poor visibility. As the visibility improves the way becomes clearer and we will make our way slowly and safely down the mountain. I hope and pray that we all reach the bottom of the mountain safe and well, and, as the lockdown eases we remain safely at the foot of the mountain.
This year was the last year of our three year strategy, 'One Journey Many Roads' and our new theme, 'The Extra Mile' came into effect this month. This theme is very appropriate in these troubled times as each of us at the moment are having to go the extra mile to keep our family and friends safe - having to remember to wear a face mask, no matter how uncomfortable we feel, and diligently having to wash our hands. We also have to support those who are lonely and those who are ill, even though we cannot give the comfort of a loving hug. As we continue to care for each other, especially during these times of uncertainty, we hope and pray there will be light at the end of the tunnel.

September 2020
Dear Lord
You are a constant companion in our journey through each day. We pray for everyone who is suffering at the moment, either through illness or who have lost loved ones.
Remind us to give a helping hand to anyone in need, and to listen to those who are lonely, pray for our families and friends and we ask you to guide our footsteps, keeping each one of us safe in these troubled times.
We ask you blessing, O Lord, on all our Guild members and hope we will be able to meet again soon.
We commend everyone to thy tender careand may your love abide in in our hearts and our actions now and forever.
Amen
In Brief-The East Church Guild pre-dates the formation of The Church of Scotland Guild.
Here's a brief timeline:
1884 Dr Charteris makes appeal to women of the Church through 'Life and Work' magazine to find out more about women's work – such as that with the fisher women of Scotland
1885 Dr Charteris appeals to the Assembly for permission to investigate and report back on, the work being done by women and the possibility of organising and official working unit.
1887 Church of Scotland Woman's Guild was formed.
So Banchory-Ternan East Woman’s Guild was established on 3rd November 1886, six months prior to the General Assembly passing their deliverance in May 1887.
Rev. George Hutchison, that year's Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland was the first president.
Today it is simply known simply as “The Guild”,
The Guild contributes in many and varied ways too the life and work of our congregation and to the wider church.
The Guild has raised over £500,000 since 1997 for a wide variety of projects.
