Wednesday break reflection

A thought to start with
There's something in your sunlight, Lord,
as if in its brightness is held your peace;
through the piercing light, it can't be seen,
but if I close my eyes I can find it,
enveloping
penetrating
shimmering with heat.
And that peace is beyond human understanding
because it comes when I am fully understood.
Overwhelmed, I rest in its airy calm,
recharging my soul so I can shine a little brighter,
renewed in spirit and sustained in peace-your peace.

Let us worship God

Let us worship God
A verse or two from John 21
There are also many other things that Jesus said: if everyone was written down, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written.
John 21:25
John 21:25
We bow our heads for a moment in prayer
Lord Jesus, your 'Follow me' still echoes down the ages,
so we are not alone this day.
We come with Peter, James and John who heard the beach side call;
with Paul who followed you along the Damascus road;
with Mary, Martha and Lazarus who began the journey from Bethany,
with John who followed you into exile;
and Stephen who dared even death.
and more,
with Augustine who travelled to England to revive the church
With Columba who earlier brought Christianity to Scotland
with St Hildegard who lightened journeys with music
with Julian who explored the inner depths of faith
with Luther who restored the road by the gift of grace
with Calvin who renewed the kirk in Scotland
And yet more
for we remember our friends in other churches, other towns, other lands
who are pilgrims with us as we travel now.
Lord Jesus, with pride and humility we join with them this day and follow you;
delighting in our companions who came before us,
glad to be with your followers in our own time,
rejoicing in the promise of those yet to come
and joining in the eternal chorus of praise.
Let each of them feel your special peace.
and help us all to hold onto your promises;
to look up and focus on your son Jesus,
for we find strength through Christ alone,
Amen

Walk on through the wind,
walk on through the rain,
Though your dreams be tossed and blown.
Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart
and you'll never walk a lone
You'll never walk alone.

Loving God we beg you, make us really alive.
Give us the spirit of light, that we may know you,
the supremely true.

Bible reading plan
oHere's a simple bible reading plan for the next few weeks taken from Janie Stuart's favourite Bible commentator-Dale Bruner. He calls it making a home with Jesus. (John 15). His suggestion is that we read a a book a month, reading a chapter a day and think about what we have read and what is happening in our lives. Since some books are have fewer chapters than days in the month, then you either get to have a few days holiday or spend time chewing over passages that caught your attention in that particular book.
His scheme for the next few months would be:
March: Luke 1-24
April: John 1-21
May: Acts 1-28
June: Romans: 1-16
We are part way through the gospel of Luke in the church so I would suggest the following:
March 22 to April 12 Luke 10 -24
April 13 to May 3: John 1-21
May: Acts 1-28 which would gets us back onto Dale's plan but let us read and reflect on the Easter story at Easter.
