Frequently asked Questions about the local project fund
Q: Why do we need a Local Project Fund?
A: It is an efficient way of retaining more of our income than at present.
Q: What activities will the Local Project Fund cover?
A: It will record both income and expenditure on all children’s and youth activities within the church.
Q: Why do I have to specify how much of my offerings I wish to allocate to the new fund?
A: Offerings allocated to the new fund will not be assessed for contributions to the Church of Scotland and therefore we will be able use this part of offerings more efficiently.
Q: How much of my offerings should I consider giving to the new fund?
A: The level of giving to the new fund is your own individual choice. However,
on average we estimate that 25%-35% of regular offerings would provide sufficient funding.
Q: Can I give more than the suggested amount of 25%-35%?
A: The level of giving to the new fund is your own individual choice. You may give a different amount compared with the suggested amount or you may decide that the children’s and youth work is so important you wish to give an additional amount over and above your current offering.
Q: Do I have to change my Standing Order?
A: The conditions of the fund, require that the income is specifically given for use by the fund and therefore we have to identify how much of your offerings you wish to allocate for children’s and youth work.
Q: Can I allocate by Freewill Offering?
A: Yes, provided you complete the relevant form to advise how much of your offerings you wish to allocate for children’s and youth work.
Q: What about Gift Aid?
A: If you wish to allocate part of your offerings to the new fund and have previously completed a Gift Aid declaration then this is sufficient since you will still be donating to the same charity. If you have not previously completed a Gift Aid declaration and wish to do so now, Please contact the Treasurer.
Q: I would like to speak to someone about the new fund. Who can I contact?
